Five Cedar Waxwings flew into a window at the school where I work. One flew away. Two were dazed. Two died. My friend Sarah put the four in a box to keep them safe and came to get me. We found some other Cedar Waxwings in a tree near where the five hit the window. The stunned birds sat in the box for a couple of minutes after we opened it. When they flew away only the two dead ones were left. I felt bad about wanting to photograph them. My friend Sarah said it was okay. "They're beautiful creatures," she said. "They should be remembered."
