If you love an image (whether it's yours or someone else's) and want to make sure others get a chance to see it, you can “feature” it by choosing the “Spotlight” button.
When an image is Spotlighted, it receives enhanced visibility in premium spots throughout the site. Spotlighted images are rotated through these higher-visibility positions to ensure the best opportunity for the images to be seen by JPG users.
If you see a great photo that would make a perfect entry for one of our Shoot Out photo contests but it was uploaded by another user, now you can enter that photo in the contest and, if it wins, you get to share in the contest winnings.
Like a photo editor, if you've got an eye for great work, find it and submit it to a contest. If it wins, since you staked the entry fee, you'll take home part of the prize (the rest, of course, goes to the member who shot the image).
Collections are a JPG+ feature. You must be a JPG+ member to create new collections and to add photos to collections.

On December 23, 2008 I spent 6 hours on public transit getting to work and coming home. Waiting for busses in the snow, having to change busses because mine “Threw a chain†made for an exhausting, maddening day. I finally arrived at my stop at 9:00pm and trudged up the road to my apartment complex. There was no wind and no falling snow when I turned the corner and looked up to behold what you see here. The beauty of the hanging tendrils with the snow on top of the branch and the light shining through made all the exhaustion and tension melt away. I went up stairs, saying nothing to my roommate and grabbed my camera.
"He's got a photo-op." He said, as I went down the stairs again and into the cold.
What my room mate doesn't know is that this is more than a photo-op. It's more than a pretty picture. To me, it's a reminder of nature's serenity and the power it has to calm inner turmoil without a single word. I wanted a reminder of that universal truth, so I set up my tripod and made the moment mine.
