On December 23, 2008 I spent 6 hours on public transit getting to work and coming home. Waiting for busses in the snow, having to change busses because mine “Threw a chain” made for an exhausting, maddening day. I finally arrived at my stop at 9:00pm and trudged up the road to my apartment complex. There was no wind and no falling snow when I turned the corner and looked up to behold what you see here. The beauty of the hanging tendrils with the snow on top of the branch and the light shining through made all the exhaustion and tension melt away. I went up stairs, saying nothing to my roommate and grabbed my camera.
"He's got a photo-op." He said, as I went down the stairs again and into the cold.
What my room mate doesn't know is that this is more than a photo-op. It's more than a pretty picture. To me, it's a reminder of nature's serenity and the power it has to calm inner turmoil without a single word. I wanted a reminder of that universal truth, so I set up my tripod and made the moment mine.
