It is a beautiful day outside today and the outside decorations need to come down and be put away. I know that it doesn't look really pretty, but the red blooming plant by the Christmas tree decorations is an Encore Azalea. It is supposed to bloom several times a year as opposed to the regular Azalea's that bloom once each spring and they put on a fabulous show all over. This plant has been blooming since I planted it last fall! There is an Azalea trail that you can pay to go from yard to yard in the River Oaks area where the wealthy live in big mansions. It is a spectacular tour to take. You usually see just the yards but some people open part of their house to be included in the tour. Once when we went to one house that we got to go inside, they had a man at a grand piano playing. He changed up his music to match what he thought the people coming in might like. It was very interesting. The Azalea will begin blooming in about a month to six weeks if I remember correctly. We have some of the regular Azalea plants in this bed also so I can tell you later when they begin to bloom.
