While hiking in Hillsborough River State Park, this Armadillo and another (the chaser) ran out of the bushes, across the trail, and back again. The chaser kept moving and wasn't to be seen again, but this one stopped on this log right at the trail's edge.
Armadillo eyesight is extremely poor and they are surprisingly unaffected by human voices (answers.com)

This is an armadillo, right? I've never had the chance to get a close look at one. It is fascinating! looks like prehistoric design. I doesn't take much to get me enthralled...A great shot!

Thanks, Helen. They're interesting creatures. They spend a lot of time foraging with their snout. We kept making noises with our mouths in order to get other ones (not this one) to stop foraging and look up for a photo, but they simply did not care about us one bit.

I had the same experience today with some armadillos. They just don't care a bit about people. One almost walked right into me. Your capture is great. I couldn't get any of them to look up today. They all had their snouts firmly in the leaves.
