One Day Old Bluebirds
These babies hatched in a nest box in my yard. I have 9 bluebird boxes surrounding my house. I also have to worry about snakes getting them. These lived to fly, but a 6 foot corn snake was climbing the pole to get them the morning they flew. We had to kill the snake. I get really upset over bluebirds being killed by snakes and sparrows. Yes, sparrows also kill baby bluebirds when they try to take over nest boxes. Just some of the cruel stuff that goes on in nature. Bluebirds are so gorgeous. I just love them. They stay together as a family for quite a while. Some days we see as many as 10 at a time in the birdbath together. They seem to actually BE joyful.
