Gandy was 91 on New Year's Day. It's an affectionate nickname because he's the oldest man in the town and perhaps, like his namesake he is a 'Great Soul'. He has four older siblings, two brothers and two sisters. All still alive and all in their 100's. The eldest is 108. Gandy has a little trouble getting around as his knees "aren't what they used to be", but still enjoys a bet on the horses and pint in my local on a Saturday and if his family genes for longevity are anything to go by, I expect he'll enjoy many more.
