Q: has anyone bought the leash and cuff quick connect straps wondering how they work in real life

A: Do you know?

You cornered me, Brenda... so here I am. Thanks for making me think! Dolly used to be my mother's. My grandfather brought her back from Germany, where he served after WWII. She had to undergo corrective plastic surgery after he sat on her. It was my fault: I had put her in an armchair. My grandmother and I took her to the clinic. I remember it as a very long walk. When she came back home her hair was a lot longer, but it was only a few years later that she took to wearing it loose, with the hippie-style sweater I made for her. This was after the trauma of repeated brain surgery: her eyes came out of their sockets, and could only be put back in place by means of entering through the top of her head. In the old photo she is blissfully unaware of all the trouble awaiting her, and of having avoided catching whatever sickness it was I was recovering from at the time.

Thank you folks, for the faves; and thank you to the above for your generous comments! Simon, I cherish my collection of photo books, and wanted to put some of my favourites among them in the photo as a way of bringing it up to date. John, thanks for the singing Hendrix to me! Jim, maybe you should be next? Francesco, Brenda -- thanks again!

OMG, Lise - This needs to be in a theme - "books"/"growing up" - I don't know, but it is a very wonderful photo essay!
