After the dancer falls unconscious, the leader performs a ritual that looks like a very intense massage.

With focus and force, the leader pushes both hands down the centre of the body and then up again, over the face, pulling the hair and finally releasing.

Some dancers are quite quickly revived. This girl needed a very long time - my camera had run out of memory, I walked away to change my memory card and when I returned, she had still not yet come through.

More than one person had to work on her. And when she finally was revived, the lady who initially worked on her appeared to be in a trance and she needed revival too!

Frankly, I found it scary!
