I shot this during my trip to Cuba back in February. Visiting Havana was a great experience. Once we entered 'Old Havana' we were approached by a number of individuals selling Cuban newspapers. As I was approached by this man, he rambled in Spanish. He pointed to the newspaper then to his stomach. As he rubbed his stomach with a pleading look on his face I could not help but feel some compassion for the old man. I reached into my pocket and gave him one convertible peso. His face quickly filled with joy. I then asked him if I could take his photo, as I pointed at my camera then pointed to him. After taking a few photos we shook hands, his face still full of happiness. As we walked off our tour guide had said that I just gave him enough money to feed him for a month.
