My father on the right, building the coffin his mother, my grandmother, was cremated in, in London January 2009. Because the shed outside was so cold he did most of the work in her bedroom, in the house she had lived in for over 50 years. The coffin itself was made from timber recycled from and old bed and a set of shelves that he used before he left home nearly four decades ago.
My mother is on the left, amongst five decades worth of papers, stamps, and old watches.
