PANTHER CAVE SHELTER 41VV83 WAS LIKELY A VERY SACRED CEREMONIAL SHELTER USED BY "SHAMANS" AS ITS WALLS ARE COVERE WITH VARIOUS ROCK ART PAINTING OF SHAMANS. THE LARGEST PREDATOR OF "LOS TRES RIOS" IS THE MOUNTAIN LION COLLOQUIALLY CALLED PANTHER. THE PANTHER IS THE ONLY ANIMAL SHOWN IN ROCK ART ON PAR WITH THE SHAMAN BECAUSE IT IS SHAMAN IN HIS NATURAL INCARNATION. THIS CAVE IS SO NAMED AS THE GUARDIAN OF THE CAVE IS A PICTOGRAPH OF A 9 FOOT LONG PANTHER WHICH YOU WILL SEE IN ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPH. THIS CAVE IS ACCESSABLE ONLY BY BOAT ABOUT 30 MILES FROM THE CONFLUENCE WITH THE DEVILS RIVER AND ABOUT 7 MILES FROM THE PECOS CONFLUENCE. PICTOGRAPHS 4,000 YEAR OLD
