Ian - I like this and recognise immediately the "Jeff Bridges" effect - it was his photos that inspired me to get my Horizon 202 in the first place. I still pull his book out every now and again to seek inspiration. I've tried to replicate the effect of his close-up happy/sad shots without any success whatsover. I have succeeded in self-poratits with me in shot twice, but that's all.
The other nice effect which I have't yet got right is that of a moving image, moving either in time with the lens or away from it. I've seen some great examples of that kind of shot (but not from me).
I'm assuming that this is taken with a Horizon? By the way, mine is fixed. There are a load of London snow shots I took last week and was pleased that the camera breathes again!

You could do the happy/sad the same way i did this one, as long as your stop would allow for things up close to be in focus. i found a good horizon exposure/depth of field guide on the web that seems to be accurate.
The stretched/shortened object effect you will get with practice. Just set it on a slow speed and see what happens.
