Taken at Fontenelle forest in Omaha, Nebraska. Once known as "chicken-hawk" because they would prey upon free range chickens and poultry, this bird of prey breeds throughout most of North America. A favorite breed of falconers as they are easily trained. In Omaha, Red-tails are commonly seen perched along roadway lightpoles eyeing rodents along the ditches from their high vantage point.
