Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

A: Do you know?

As Pascal pointed out the last photo I posted of this scene was really flat (and he is 100% right). I just happened to retake this photo 20 minutes ago before I read the comment. If you notice the snow keeps melting and I keep expecting it to be totally gone.

I couldn't get the similar angle, because cars are parked in the spot. I didn't spend a lot of time composing the photo (same with the previous photos). There are two young children who live in the apartment. Of course all grown men with cameras are unsavory types (wink, wink) and I didn't want to make it appear that I was photographing them (or their patio door).

Original Picture

4 days later (the flat photo).

If the scene still exist later today, there may be another photo in the works.
