Sometimes, you end up liking a picture a lot, but it get poorly received, such is the case with this picture :)
i wanted to do a strong monochrome flower photo, and, as a result, came up with this idea...
i'll explain the setup first, these are very small flowers, yellow in color, placed in a bowl filled with coca-cola (for the black water effect), placed in front of my kitchen window :)
using ISO 6400, i composed it so that the rim was outlining the base of the picture, while the flowers were kept in one-third of the frame, keeping the rule of 3rds in mind :)
the original RAW photo was not as strong or grainy as this one, so i had to do some graining in Capture NX2 and then the same in Photoshop using Niksofware's Silver Efex Pro, to exaggerate the grain :)
i opted for so much grain because a few weeks ago, i borrowed a black & white special magazine from Abid Changazi (JPGMAG: Athlon) which included similar, high-grain photos, shot in film :)
this may not be your cup of tea, but i personally like it very much, and am considering printing it big :)
this is not THE monochrome floral image i wanted, i have yet to attempt that; will give it another shot when my new Manfrotto Tripod and Ball Head arrives, in a few weeks hopefully :)
thanks for reading and viewing :) let's see what u think of this one :)

personally i love. the grain really just makes it from good to great. it gives the image another depth. the white rim is in perfect porportion. the balance of white/black is great. an amazing photo. i really love the simplicity and harmony of it. definately a fav

Una toma atractiva que dmeuestra gran sensibilidad ;P En este caso el ruido (iso) de la toma no estropea la imagen. Bonita composición :)

I think is beautiful, the petal on the top flower is a bit to dark, the top petal, if you clear that edge a bit, I think is perfect, but thats my opinion!
