I set up a tripod at night with my shutter open for 15 seconds. I used a handheld flash and flashed it repeatedly at the subject. I took about 5 exposures like this and then combined them in photoshop. I probably could have gotten them all in one seamless shot but for the assignment i needed to put together an image from at least 5 images, so there ya go.
