Beer and Communism
This corner of the Grand' Place houses the Brewer's Guild and La Cygne, one of the most expensive and elitist restaurants in Europe. The brewers of Belgium gave the world its favorite alcoholic beverage. La Cygne served as Karl Marx's favorite pub where he and Friedrich Engels came up with the Communist Manifesto and the original German Communist Party.
