Shawangunk Mountains.
Pronounced Shongums officially, but no one I know pronounces it that way, and never has. We call them "The Gunks"
These falls are listed as being 87 feet in height, and they seem that way. The ice at the bottom looks to be half the height, but that is an illusion from camera angle. The ice is more like 25-30 feet high, which is impressive enough in person.
The Gunks offer some world famous rock climbing along The Trapps, and it is amazing to watch human mountain sheep do the impossible.
Sue and I played hooky today and went hiking in the mountains. What a great choice. Just us two, many miles, hundreds of shots, and not a soul in sight.
Who's luckier than me?
