With all our history past and present. I began to feel pride, and false hope. American is what it is, and was. I hear the Star Spangle banner song in my head and in doing this it haunt's me . I ask, Is the Americanism just a mantra. American is growing. And as the glory f the past now old can no longer be. America is giving birth to the the new.

In the story A modest proposal.

Not to offend but for my own interpretations I see a man with a wealth of truth in some cases better not said, Though that truth is not the overwhelming balance of his life. A man who has been on the cusp of and now is perhaps off the edge of social and economic change in America who has witnessed first-hand, been subjected too and worn the effects of those changes on his sleeve. His life is not without opinion and he has his fair share of opinions for anyone willing to take the time to sit while he imparts that knowledge.
He is proud in knowing he has survived a life that would have drawn to a close for many others and in doing so has retained some sense of inner self. This is the STRENGTH I see standing before me in your image now. A man filled with pride though perhaps not of things to be proud of in both himself and his country. A man in love with the prospect that America is in some part what it declares itself to be. The land of the free and the land of opportunity.
The lady is the epitome of support that has its roots in the period of time before womans rights. A part of her system of life survives in that time period and she supports her man to the very end as she has done all her life. Her rewards are a sense of satisfaction in knowing she's a wife, lover, friend, partner and wants nothing more than that which society and idiosyncratic 60's culture has defined her role in life as being. She feels accomplished and like a woman.
Together they exude a melancholy impression like people who have struggle for all if not most of their life. But read in between the visual impressionistic lines of that struggle and you might see what could be described as their humanity! Their reason and worth for who they are and where they are now. It's a strength of survival.
I feel wonderful when I see and view images like yours. I like the REALITY of photography and my impression of it to be confronted. My own interpretation of your image could be a million miles from the truth of the moment but the great thing about a photograph is that no two people see it the same.
Strong visuality and slice of American reality.

Funny how shadows can make such firm impressions. I saw this first, months ago, as a torn flag, when flipping through the Capers vinyard. And the two faces I saw as reactions to the unknown, expressed in different manners: his wrinkled chin, her furrowed brow, both etched from habit rather than effort. And now drinking the Capers wine, aged properly, the flag has become intact, and the wrinkle and furrow are sturdy proclamations of knowledge and memory. The unknown is nowhere in the picture. This lets me find humor, at my expense, in the wrapping of the bottle; the wine is never in the packaging, but always in the taste buds, and this flavor, of brittle flawed certainty, is a marvelous meal of hope and caution. My regards to the bottler. Thanks for distilling such a beautiful drink, Glenn.

You rock, Glenn! Your lenses are your nth eyes, an extension of your grey matter. Always refreshing to see a camera that doesn't just paint, but _thinks_
”America“ rocked when it exported revolution, _Democracy without an agenda_ to an 'old & tired world order'. We in America need to shed the excuse of ”patriotism“, America has always had _Democracy_ ! The young need to re-assert the vibrant cauldron of ideas that America, sans patriotism, sans racism, sans ulterior agendas, sans bull shit, can be and always was, PRIDE of MANKIND.
    Keep on, man. (vt'd)
