These gentlemen are part of the Cuerpo de Bomberos de Juarez, the Juarez Firefighter Corps. These guys are Hardcore! In terms of training and work ethic, no one beats them. They are dang near a volunteer FD for a city of more than a million people. Many of their apparatus are antiques compared to El Paso's state of the art equipment. They often train in abandoned unsafe buildings because of a lack of proper facilites. Many supplement their meager income by working as EMTs, a dangerous job in a city where hundreds are killed in gang or drug related murders.

This pic shows the Corps in one of their training exercises performed at the EPFD Training Academy. 4 firefighters hold the end of two ropes that are wrapped, not tied to the legs of the ladder, while two more hold the bottoms of the otherwise unsecured ladders. Then one FF climbs up and OVER the ladder and hangs backwards with no hands while another FF climbs up and over him and hangs off the other side. Each step of the exercise is highly organized and almost militaristic. Many hardened American FFs are impressed by this simple exercise.
