There is an old Indian story that tells of animal guardians that are sent by ancestors to watch over and protect loved ones.
For many years I listened to stories, watched, and fed the cardinals around my home with my grandfather. These majestic birds were always our favorites. When he passed I was deeply hurt. My grandpa was always my best friend. At his burial a cardinal landed on his coffin. The visitor put me at peace. From that day on whenever I need a little guidance or I am distraught I ask for a cardinal to assure me. Oddly enough there has yet to be a time that I have needed my grandpa and not recieved my cardinal answer.
Now to have such a wonderful creature that spends nearly every clear evening at my side makes me feel like my guardian and friend has returned to assist me through some tough times!
I love you grandpa.

I have been feeding a family of cardinals for the past three years. Watching the young grow. Listening to the parents sing and talk. Asolutely amazing creatures. I cannot stop following them just to get a shot.
That is a beautiful story you have! Not to mention one of my favorite pics to take. Good to see I am not the only one to take such a pic!
