I saw the paper in The Room Upstairs during our prodnight, Stories: A Songwriter's Night. Fr. Ed Panlilio became the first ever Catholic priest in the Philippines to be elected to a public office. He ran WITHOUT politcal machinery nor experience against re-electionist governor Mark Lapid and Lapid's bitter rival Lilia Pineda and won a six-cornered race by a measly 1,147 votes.
