If you have not been already put it on your to do list.... The ruins of Pompeii are truly a magical place. I had to wait for about 20mins to get this shot without any people in it ( much to my friends annoyance ). In the foreground is situated one of the principal squares from this ancient city and in the background, looking ever ominous is Mt. Vesuvius, which almost 2000 years ago buried this extraordinary place under literally tons of ash and molten rock.

i love this shot!! i have read some about pompeii and seen documentaries on it and vesuvius. places that have always interested me. that is one of the great things about this site. anyone can travel anywhere through their contacts and others on the site!!!

I have to agree with you mom Aaron!! One of your best!! I've been there and know how many people are usually there. This is the best shot I seen of Pompeii and Mt. Versuvius and I've seen alot!! Excellent shot and soooo worth the wait!!

Awesome, Aaron! Great compo to include Vesuvius in the distance. So I am thinking with the volcano so far away just image what a major erruption it must have been. Probably much worse than Mt. St.Helens!
