The most complete above ground remains of a Historic coal mine on Vancouver Island. Excavation at Morden began in 1912, alongside the Pacific Coast Coal Mine's railway. The owners decided to construct the above ground structures of reinforced concrete, unlike at other mines where wood and steel were used.
