Kashmiri Craftsman
Woven from reeds pulled from the nearby fresh water lakes, these baskets are the livelihood of many Kashmir residents. Due to the inaccurately publicized political situation in the region, as well as the economy driven lack of tourism, many artisans are having trouble making ends meet. But this man, despite his troubles, had no lack of genuine hospitality or shyness of camera. He showed me many staggering works of his hand, and I left with a new respect for reed weaving, and a new friend.

Thank you, these people were amazing to photograph. It is as if they knew we were trading art.
