One-room schoolhouses once dotted the entire province and were both the community and educational hub of the province. Parallel to the government allotment of land for the railways was an equally valued allotment of land for schoolhouses. Mass urbanization and institutionalization of the educational system has since all but desimated these landmarks. Recently efforts have been made to at least preserve the land on which these pillars of the community was once built. This is one of but many fading icons of Canadian Heritage. This site is the Burton School District 2744, east of Vanguard, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Taken with a Sony DSC-H5 camera. Some color enhancement to highlight the natural colors using Photoshop CS2
