When the air temperature and humidity is just right, a transonic vapor cone, also known as a Prandtl–Glauert singularity occurs. This vapor cone I caught is from an F/A-18/F Super Hornet traveling approximately 600-900 MPH. My guess is it was just under 700 MPH. It was the loudest thing I ever heard. There was no post processing done to this photo, it is straight out of camera.
