Rakhaine community (a group of tribes mainly lives in cox’sbazar district) celebrates 3 day long water festival as a part of their new year 1370 from 17 to 19 April 2008 at cox'sbazar.

Children, young and older people of rakhains celebrate this water festival as it is their main religious and social festival. They arrange special food and drink for this occasion
“Subo” kind of vegetable which Rakhaine collect from banderban is their main food
This is served to their friends and relatives on Shangrang festival. Rakhaine women celebrate inside house by having food, drink, singing and dancing. Young people celebrate with great enthusiasm and old are by gossiping and playing indoor games.
They have total freedom to celebrate this water festival as their own way.
