They shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses: They shall enter in at the windows like a thief...Joel 2: 9.
This thief of the night,
Who was a stranger
For me simply posed
Without threat or danger,
Thru' a window closed
And said when meeting,
He'd be leaving soon
After he got done eating
To join another raccoon.
©Poetry by me, AJP
I learned my lesson several years ago in attempting to take a picture outside of a mother raccoon at the home place of my folks..She had 5 young ones...She chased me right in the house and I almost slammed the door on her nose...I would not recommend getting that close to a wild raccoon again unless there is a closed window or door between you...There is always a danger of a raccoon having rabies. This raccoon jumped on the feeder last night...and I was glad I did not have my zoom lens on as there was no time to change it and went with the 18-55 mm lens I had on my camera..It was 3 feet away from the window. It was 9:00 PM when I shot this picture and I set the camera lens right on the window and used flash.

This is a fantastic shot! A zoom lens would have cut your light way back. So glad you had the wide angle on.

Thank you for the nice comments...You are so right Regenia. It was pretty dark when I shot this picture and the zoom would have ruined it completely that time of night and being that close to the window..

And you nailed it!!! Great sharp capture!! The alum. foil in the foreground looks like shards of broken glass.

Andrea Petersen said (29 May 2009):
Thanks to all...Donald what looks like alum foil in the foreground is sunflower seeds on the bird feeder. The raccoon was hanging on the other end about to climb on the feeder when I shot this picture...It was such a close range from where I shot the picture that there was very little depth of field.

This is an awesome shot Andrea! I bet that raccoon wondered what lit up the world!!! Don't feel bad Donald, it does look like aluminum foil instead of sunflower seeds!
