Contraption
Officially, it was about thirty-three minutes after the Wright Brothers first succesful flight when someone said, out loud mind you,
"Imagine if we could put guns on these things?"
Unofficially, Orville Wright threw a rock during his first flight, missing Wilbur by inches.
Quite the romantic period, really.

Ok...here's what gets me. This plane is a friggin' work of art in wood and ...it actually FLIES! "We" can build this stuff and, like you've pointed out so well, we immediately warp'em' up into nasty killing machines! OH THE HUMANITY! Your pix of these planes accompanied with your copy make excellent points. Kevin, you need to make a book of them - a juxtaposition of the beauty of their creation and the dirty insanity of their final use.
