Tarrytown is a Hudson River village about 12 miles north of the NYC limits. A bit east of the village, at a higher elevation (and slightly south of the Rockefeller property at Pocantico) is a lake that serves as Tarrytown's water supply. This spillway, at the east end of the reservoir, prevents the lake from overflowing its banks.
