This lion was caught in a poacher's trap 5 years prior to this picture. He lost his back leg. He was rescued by park officials, nursed back to health, and returned to his pride. Because lions have few if any predators and the lionesses do most of the hunting, this lion was healthy and living peacefully despite human attempts at destruction.
