Mom & Dad (Dad couldn't get out of bed for the 2nd day in a row) We took turns lying with him. At one point, he opened his eyes and said to me, "I can't please all the people all the time" I told him that he didn't have to; that now is his time....he "went home" a week later.

a powerful portrait, very intimate and emotional from the point of view of the photo. there's so much going on in his eyes, or, not going on as the case may be. such a life that's come and gone, or nearly arrived like approaching a freeway off ramp going a little too slow, but taking the turn a little too fast. they're obviously still in love as "love" is defined by their dependent, needy, impatient and fearful memories. the way youve shot their hands, the angles and positioning of the hands is quite remarkable. i know you didnt "pose" them in any way, i know it was just the way they were. but the hands and arms are so twisted in different directions, attention is dispersed, feelings have been categorized and filed in manila folders of spirituality for you to rumage thru at a later time.

Thank you so much, Lise, Rhio, Simon, Debrah & John. I took alot of photos of them that day. Some are too intense for me to upload right now. I'll take your advice John & put it in the candid theme. Thank you, again, my dear JPG family.

This shot is so eloquent, telling of a very long past and what could be a very short future of a most loving couple. The expressions and body language are remarkably readable, and evoke a feeling of voyeurism; like accidentally walking in on a very private conversation, and learning too much. This is a shot to treasure.
