After staying with Ravi and family in a little town on the Konkan shore, I wanted to introduce Hummus to them.
Shopping for Channa was easy, but although the use of sesame in oil or seeds is common, there is no Tahini in local market. Eventually we just blended seeds. But the big screw up was that out of excitement of making some native homemade food, I forgot to cook the Garbanzo (channa) beans... which I hadn't realized until later... they tasted and said it is a too heavy food for the season - such are Indian - smart and selective about their foods.
