Indigo Bunting (1st Day of Summer)
I will praise thee O Lord my God With all my heart: and I will glorify Thy name for ever more...Psalms 86: 12
God signs nature
Thru' all His birds
But the Indigo Bunting
Wears God's signature
And His words,
With name to glorify
"In God I go"
With wings to fly
In heaven's sky
Or e'en hunting
For food below.
Poetry by me AJP
This male Indigo Bunting is usually more blue but it is molting and losing some of his feathers. He sat very still on the edge of the feeder this morning for 10 minutes with his back turned gazing off into space. Maybe he was communicating with God to thank Him for it being the first day of summer:) It had been a cold spring here earlier and they are used to hotter weather where they migrate from.

Beautiful, Andrea! I wish the Lazuli Bunting would come to my feeder (like he does to Susan's). I too always feel the birds are in constant contact with God - that's why they sing so heartily all the time!

That's amazing that it sat still for 10 minutes or so. Around here all that I have seen of Indigo buntings is a flash of blue flying by - lol : ) This is a great macro shot.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I originally posted this image on the 21st to wish all JPG Dad's a Happy Father's Day but thought it would make a good entry for the theme summer also since these type of birds especially love warm weather.
