Fogbanks lift from a mirror smooth Loch Katrine to reveal a tree clad island reflecting its autumn glory.
Loch Katrine lies about twenty miles north of Glasgow and, since Victorian times, has been the main source of water for the city. Its a popular day trip destination and tourists cruise the loch on the Sir Walter Scott steamship that plies up and down its length, passing along the way, some of these forested islands near the head of the loch. On the day I visited, arriving early and hoping to capture some autumn colour, a heavy bank of fog covered the loch obscuring everything from view. However as the sun rose higher, the fog began to lift, eventually revealing this mirror calm image of Autumn.
