Falloch Falls

The Falls of Falloch drop gracefully into a deep plunge pool while autumn first touch tinges the surrounding forest.

I first shot this fall while trying out a new 17-40mm wide angle lens and returned once more to capture this low angle shot. The approach is limited by the large and steep sided plunge pool but the fall does lie close to the main road to the north of Loch Lomond. It had been raining steadily over the last couple of days keeping the water level high and the light levels were sufficiently low to allow for this long exposure shot. I like the angle of the shot and the ghostly quality of the flowing water against the deep dark greens of the pool and surrounding trees flecked with the first signs of autumn.
