Berneray West
North along the extensive dunes of Berneray being lit strongly by a summer evenings sun and looking towards the hills of Harris under streamers of white cloud.
The beach on the west coast of Berneray is possibly the finest in Scotland and I returned here after a previous year's visit with a clear idea of what I wanted from the magic and intense coastal light that falls on these islands of an evening in late July. The conditions on the first night were as close to perfect as this part of the world allows, with low slanting sun lighting the beach and dunes in a golden pinkish light, gently tinting the cloud streams above and painting the hills of Harris in the distance, the start of a long evening shooting in this unique and pristine environment
