This is from my "Shooting from the Hip" series I maintain on my blog. I rarely look through the viewfinder when shooting at the market, I use intuition, instead; Imagining what it is I'm expecting to see and letting unexpected surprises happen. It also allows me to work in very tight quarters without being intrusive.
It all started when I began bringing Union Square produce into the studio and shooting it on white plexi, later expanding into shooting the market produce itself,
"as is, where is," letting the ideas unfold as I walk around. There is a wonderful contrast between my Union Square studio work and this new editorial work that is greatly rewarding.
