How can yo tell this is a carpenter bee? I had one drilling n my wooedn patio gate door early one morning. I was half asleep and following the sound found it and I jumped back so far I almost fell on my bottom! I sprayed and got the bee out of the tunnel it made and plugged it with steel woll or it will keep coming back and making more tunnels..I knew this bee was just hovering and hovering and acting all weird and it turned out to be a carpenter bee. But ot me it looked just like any other bee so My question unless it is the wood like mine was how in the world can you tell?
