These are a group of summer campers to whom I taught a collage making lesson at a local art center. We first viewed and discussed works by artists Joyce Neimanas and David Hockney. Then I created the "Honey, I'm Home!" collage on this site for the students to see the process. Then with Funsaver cameras, they took photos of pieces of each other according to a list I gave them to follow. I then raced to Walgreens (the only place that still does 1 hour developing in our city) to get the film developed. When we got our pictures back, it took little explanation and the students were immersed in the process which was fun to watch and photograph. They were quite proud of their cut and pasted pieces which will hang in an exhibit at the City Auditorium at the end of July. Every day for a week a different artist came and taught them lessons in everyting from water color painting to culinary art to pottery to music and finally the photography collage. I'd say they were lucky kids to have such influences so young! :D
