Q: I've noticed that five of my uploads have " Hot" in front of the caption. Why are they caterogized that way ?

A: Do you know?

For Karen Photo Fiddler, the one on your toe looks like the one on my toe. Those ants have lethal bites don't they?!! For those who say "wear shoes" I did have shoes on and they crawled inside the shoe, some went up my leg and bit further up and I got two bites on a finger just trying to brush them off : (. For those of you not familiar with fire ants, they can crawl on you and you do not feel them, they get a lot of them and a signal must go off and they all begin biting at once.

Oh my gosh! Your foot looks like it is infected...Ouch! That must really hurt! What do you do to take away the pain?

Thanks for the concern David - so far in the 43 years that we have lived in this area I have received quite a few fire ant bites and fortunately I am not allergic to them. However, they sting and they burn for several days and they can leave scars.

Andrea, usually the bites do get infected. The fire ants bite does that to us. I found that Aloe Vera gel is very soothing and takes away the pain. My bites are healing nicely now. I got them on both feet and some up my legs and a couple on a finger when trying to brush them off of my feet. The best thing to do to get them off of you is turn the garden hose on them or jump in the pool.

Those are some very nasty bites Ann. I find that rubbing alcohol helps me when I am bitten. They will get infected and move into your glands if you are not careful.

Oooo Ann yours are so wicked looking! I had shoes on too when I got mine. My sister just now told me to put tobacco juice or meat tenderizer on them. Mine did get infected by the time I dorve from S.C. to Mo. It helped it heal after I popped the blister and drained out the poison..I soaked in warm salt water and used peroxide and alcohol and antibiotic ceam. Take care! Keep up with the poison powder!

I feel your pain, Ann. The only thing I have found to chase them away has been Amdro..and even with that they sometimes just move from one side of the yard to the other. Those awful bites can get infected, as I am sure you know. I feel so bad for you.
