During the transfer of authority ceremony in which the British Forces handed control of Basra to American Forces March 31, 2009, Gen. Raymond Odierno, the top US commander of US Forces in Iraqi, sat among British Soldiers while waiting for his turn to take the podium. I will never forget being able to attend this historic event, which marked the beginning of the withdraw of British Forces in Iraq.
