I came across this eerie glowing area in the woods at Highbanks Metro Park. The sign said that the Gypsy Moth had all but decimated the canopy above.
The Gypsy Moth is an invasive species, brought to America for silk production. They plan to spray the area with a naturally occuring virus aimed at killing off the moth. Sounds like a sci-fi movie in the making.
