If you love an image (whether it's yours or someone else's) and want to make sure others get a chance to see it, you can “feature” it by choosing the “Spotlight” button.
When an image is Spotlighted, it receives enhanced visibility in premium spots throughout the site. Spotlighted images are rotated through these higher-visibility positions to ensure the best opportunity for the images to be seen by JPG users.
If you see a great photo that would make a perfect entry for one of our Shoot Out photo contests but it was uploaded by another user, now you can enter that photo in the contest and, if it wins, you get to share in the contest winnings.
Like a photo editor, if you've got an eye for great work, find it and submit it to a contest. If it wins, since you staked the entry fee, you'll take home part of the prize (the rest, of course, goes to the member who shot the image).

JPG's offered theme - Book Report - inspired this Creation through my Third Eye. I have been frequenting the shores of Lake Huron in anticipation that one evening the colours at Sunset would be 'just right' to compliment the cover of Courtney Milne's book - 'SACRED PLACES in North America - a Journey into the Medicine Wheel.' With book propped on an easel and camera waiting, the perfect moment of Light presented itself for me to Paint.
I met Photographer/Author Courtney Milneat a seminar conducted in the 1980's. At this time, the fascination of Photography was just beginning for me. Thru various Canadian Photography workshops I devoured every opportunity available to learn the Art. Courtney had just published his first book 'Prairie Light'.
• SACRED PLACES - synopsis •
"Using the Bighorn Medicine Wheel as the center, Courtney Milne follows the directions of each of the 28 spokes of the wheel across North America to explore landscapes rich in mythology, legend, and mystery. The book is divided into four chapters, one for each of the four cardinal directions, portraying locations significant to Native American culture and spirituality."
• Cairenn's Book Review •
For years I have adored Courtney Milne's Creative Third Eye for capturing Breathtaking Visions through the use of 35mm film cameras and colour transparency film. My *autographed copy, SACRED PLACES, is one of my favorite Photography Journals kept off the book shelf and on my coffee table. I am giggled as Family & Friends turn each page in anticipation of the next Vision of Light waiting to take their breath away.
Courtney's inner connection with our Sacred Earth is well expressed through his photographic vision as well as his written knowledge of the history of the land he walks upon. I am Artistically Inspired by the Abstract Vision of 'Totem Landscape' (pg. 18) having captured a *perfect reflection of the rocky shoreline of Manitoulin Island, then turning the landscape 90Ëš. The captured 'Light Refraction through Quartz Crystal photographed at Spiro Mounds State Park, Oklahoma' (pg. 41), takes my breath away knowing Nature can offer such Wonderous Visual Beauty that cannot be touched - only Experienced. The light of 'Joshua Tree at Sunrise - Joshua Tree National Monument, California' (pg. 75) presents a Calmness and Quiet provoking me to spread out a blanket and sit with a steaming cup o' morning java while enveloping the Serenity of the Moment.
**Mr. Milne - the Visual Wonders you share through your Art have inspired me to Appreciate My Journey on our Sacred Earth 'that much more.'
