When I’m alone at my home in the Dallas area, such as now, I usually eat breakfast in my favorite chair, the recliner in the living room where I can enjoy the pleasure of looking at our collection of artwork by Carl Ahrens (my husband’s grandfather, who was a famous Canadian artist during the late 1800s and early 1900s) and peering out the living room window at distant towering pecan trees.

Thanks everyone. Martin, thanks for posting that website. It's my daughter, Kim's. She's writing a historical novel based on the life of Carl Ahrens and that of the great love of his life and muse, the woman he nicknamed Madonna (my husband's grandmother). Kim's website includes historical family photos, as well as pics of some of his great works.
