This is a picture of the most recent visit to see my Great Grandmother in the hospital. The last time I had seen her I was 14, she knew who I was, and did not look like this.

This image is very sad to me, but beautiful at the same time. She did not want me to 'make her look ugly' when I was taking these.

I also thought it was quite interesting that despite her condition she still had time to get her nails done.

She is beautiful, but she is old.

A very moving image. She might be old, but she still knows she wants to look her best. We will all be here one day, and the stories we will have to tell. My best to your grandmother. Ask her about life, she will have a lot to share.

  • Jeannie Henderson

Jeannie Henderson said (8 Oct 2010):

    Decay: intransitive verb

1: to decline from a sound or prosperous condition
2: to decrease usually gradually in size, quantity, activity, or force
    3: to fall into ruin
4: to decline in health, strength, or vigor
    5: to undergo decomposition

Beautiful and touching photo...and represents "decay" perfectly. Great job and congrats on being published.
