I'm not sure if you can see these two Great Pyrenees who were guarding their flock. They appear as two white spots.
I got out of the car and walked to the fence - the sheep were frightened and moved back toward the sheepherder's shack.
Then I heard the barking - faint at first, and then I saw the dogs. They were very diligent at their duties, and at first bark the sheep moved further back toward them.
I am told that they are raised with the sheep and not with much contact with their people, who want them to be part of the flocks.
I know this breed. They are wonderful dogs and very intuitive whether they are guarding a family or sheep.

Thanks for sharing the background info to this beautiful shot. Really adds to the picture. Besides the wide open spaces love how the sheepherder's shack is way off center. Adds interest without detraction from the beauty of the distant peaks.
