Mule deer mother and fawn. The next image is of them in flight - Mom's tongue is out and they didn't want any part of that stranger who stepped out of the car.

Thanks to this shot, you can easily see how they got their name and how their hearing has evolved. I saw some male mule deer this summer that were booking about 260 pounds. Tremendous animals.
