This memory was added on: April 11, 2006
I use to ride it up and down the sidewalk in Topeka Kansas in front of my Grandma's house just across the street from the state capital building and right underneath the Buttercrust bread sign. The sign had the bread slices spinning which made it look as though slices of bread were continually falling out of bag. The factory was not far away either so it always smelled like fresh bread. Grandma's gone, the house is gone, the sign is gone and the factory moved and so have I (Texas), but the memory..... oh the memory. Grandma and my Big Wheel with the hand brake!
I also had the contraption you sat in and had two big wheels with handles that you used to power it. You could go forward, backward, turn on a dime or just sit and spin your self dizzy. Does anyone remember this thing and what it was called?
In the Little Boys, Big Wheels photo essay.
